The present invention relates to panel saws for cutting substantially flat workpieces. In particular, the present invention relates to a process for the removal of processing waste from a panel saw for the cutting of panels of wood and similar materials, which are used for example for kitchen countertops or mounted on the basic elements for kitchens. The following description refers to wood panels, but is in no way limited to this particular use, as the method in the context of the present invention can be applied to the cutting of any kind of substantially flat workpieces, which also consist of a material other than wood can. The presently known saws for cutting wood panels provide a horizontal transport system for handling the panels as well as a series of cutting devices located above said transport system. The cutting of the panels by the above-mentioned cutting devices creates waste on the sides of each panel which must be ejected from the saw to ensure correct operation thereof. To eject the waste, the known saws are provided with movable receptacles which operate on the sides of the saw in the areas where the wastes are generated to pick them up and out of the saw. The known saws listed above, however, have a number of disadvantages, which are due essentially to their complex structure, in particular with respect to the associated lateral receiving devices, which perform repeated movements in order to absorb the waste generated by the cutting devices on and off to carry the saw. Moreover, the method of discharging the waste by means of the above-mentioned side pickup devices means relatively cumbersome machining operations and relatively long processing times. In view of the foregoing, the present invention is intended to provide an efficient and reliable method of removing waste from a panel saw. In addition, the present invention is intended to provide an easy-to-perform method for the removal of processing waste from a panel saw. A further object of this invention is to provide a method for the removal of processing waste from a panel saw, which can be implemented by means of low-cost and low-maintenance means. Furthermore, the present invention provides a method for the removal of processing waste from a panel saw, which can be carried out without any hindrance to the operation of said saw. A special subject of the present invention is thus a method for the removal of processing waste from a panel saw. Said saw is provided with supporting and transporting means for supporting and conveying at least one plate in a certain direction, as well as apparatuses for cutting at least one plate arranged above said supporting and transporting devices for picking up and conveying, arranged under said and at least one plate, for picking up and transporting the processing waste. The said carrier and transport devices comprise a first linear transport element and a second linear transport element, which are substantially coplanar and spaced apart from each other and form a passageway downwardly, which is connected to said conveying and receiving devices. The said method consists of the following phases: First, at least one plate on said carrier and Transport devices arranged so that a first lateral edge portion of said plate is located above said passage.
